Hair Design Program Outline
Course Objective:
The curriculum includes (1400) clock hours. The course includes extensive instruction and practical experience in cutting, hair styling, men’s grooming, hair coloring, perming, chemical relaxing, artificial hair, customer service, personal appearance and hygiene, personal motivation and development, retail skills, client record keeping, and business ethics, as well as sanitation, state laws and regulations, principles of hair design, salon-type administration, and job interviewing. The program focuses on key areas such as hair cutting, styling, and chemical services. Unlike the broader Cosmetology program, the Hair Design course is shorter—requiring 1400 hours—because it does not cover manicures, pedicures, or facials.
Education Goal:
It is designed to prepare students for the State Board licensing examination. This examination provides the training that will prepare the individual basic skills for entry level positions in the “Beauty Industry”. The training provided will prepare the graduate with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the State Board Examination and if desired, pursue at an entry level, as a hair design specialist.
